La Vie en Rose WORKSHOP

With LUCY THE FLOWER HUNTER

Dordogne Valley, FRANCE

JUNE 2024

Five lovely days playing with flowers in a manor house and barn overlooking a verdant valley in France …

After settling in under the beams of our beautiful attic room we filled the car with blooms from two local growers- then filled to overflowing all the lovely antique confit jars and pottery urns the owner, our friend Danu (perfume writer and wine maker) had dotted around the barn-

LUCY THE FLOWER HUNTER and I were ready to welcome all our lovely guests!

Starting with a lovely session dyeing silk ribbons with natural ingredients we then created beautiful bouquets to be tied with them- and for Zoe to model for us…

LUCY THE FLOWER HUNTER wowed us all again with her inspiring URN demonstration….

PICKING BLOOMS…

A huge highlight of our overseas workshops is always picking at a local flower farm. This time we visited the lovely old farm house and garden of Lucy from Les Fleurs de la Terre- and filled our buckets to overflowing with garden roses, peonies, foxgloves, achillea, queen anne’s lace, corncockle, scabiosa and so much more floral beauty…

And CREATING VESSEL ARRANGEMENTS…

We also went shopping in local brocantes- French antique and junk shops- to choose some lovely vessels to arrange in.

And then the next day back at the barn we had lots of fun creating arrangements in our vases with the lovely blooms from Fleurs de la Terre…

ROAD TRIP…

in a fleet of cute vintage Citroen 2CVs we were taken on a gastronomic tour of the local region- sampling cuisine typical of the Dordogne along the way- and with lunch at a chateau thrown in!

We visited a walnut farm, a botanical distillery, a goose and duck farm and a sturgeon farm

And passed by picturesque villages and towns on the river bank- and lots of beautiful chateaux- as we meandered on our way…
