How lucky are we - after our delicious time with her in March 2024 at our Autumnal Abundance workshop - to have Lucy the Flower Hunter come and join us again in the Antipodes in 2025 ?!

Our 3 day Summer Meadows Workshop from 2 Feb 2025 is already sold out, so we have decided to offer one more chance to those who would love to join us on a workshop with Lucy …

our SUMMER MEADOWS ONE DAY offering…

Lucy Hunter will share with us some insights from her books, tips on gardening - and most of all her inimitable artistry in botanical styling as she creates one of her signature urn arrangements. The Workroom will be abundant with summer blooms from local small flower farms …. dahlias, garden roses, cosmos, foxgloves, yarrow, corncockle, scabiosa and more. We will be inspired by these blooms and the abundance of wildflowers growing in meadows and roadsides surrounding us … Vicki Roycroft from The Wildflower School will demonstrate how to create a hand tied bouquet with a meadow vibe. Then you will choose weather to create a hand tied bouquet or a garden arrangement In a pottery jardiniere handmade by Waiheke Island ceramic artist Jane Burn.

In between creating, enjoy the stunning views from our WORKROOM overlooking Woodside Bay on Waiheke Island, and share a lovely long lunch and a glass or two of wine with your fellow guests…

Prepare To Be INSPIRED!

FLORAL INGREDIENTS…

our WORKROOM will of course be abundant with summer blooms picked from local small flower farms- dahlias, garden roses, foxgloves, yarrow, scabiosa, cosmos, zinnias, corncockle and more will fill our vessels and urns to overflowing- just wanting for you to select and arrange them…

Morning WORKSHOP:

GATHERED from the MEADOW Bouquet demonstration

with Vicki Roycroft from The Wildflower School

From the abundance of seasonal blooms in the Workroom, Vicki will demonstrate how to construct a hand-tied bouquet in her “undone” style and with a painterly approach to layering in colours and textures- and inspired by how wildflowers grow in wafty clusters in untamed meadows…

Morning WORKSHOP:

URN Demonstration

with LUCY THE FLOWER HUNTER

Lucy will create one of her beautiful naturally arranged overflowing URN arrangements.

She will talk to you about her inspiration and creative process…. about how she likes to place the flowers in a vessel as if they were in a garden (or meadow!)- and have grown there naturally; about how the different flowers she selects play different roles in the arrangement- like instrumentalists in an operatic performance: from the orchestra pit through to the primadonnas…

Afternoon WORKSHOP:

MEADOW FLOWERS….

create a hand tied Bouquet OR a Vase arrangement

Arrange flowers in CLAY Jardinieres to make TABLE MEADOWS

be inspired by Lucy’s urn arrangement and create your own tumbling meadow arrangements in one of Jane Burn’s lovely hand made pottery jardinieres

OR

Create a hand tied “Gathered from the Meadow” style bouquet

be inspired by Vicki’s “undone” naturally “unnarranged” bouquet to create your own meadow bouquet- and tied it with drifts of silk ribbon

And dont worry, if you choose to create a bouquet rather than a vase arrangement, you can still select your favourite vase to take home and create in later- and similarly if you choose to create an arrangement in a vessel, you can still take home some silk ribbon to tie around a bouquet you make another time…

FLORAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Lucy Hunter, whose beautiful photography of florals fills the pages of her two lovely books, will take photos of your floral creation and these will be shared with you all later …. and as she shoots she will share with you some photography tips.

EAT and relax…

In between creating, take a moment to gaze at the lovely view of Woodside Bay below….

we will serve a home made sweet treat for morning tea - washed down with an Island coffee.

And of course Mark will create delectable dishes for a lovely long lunch for you to share with your fellow guests, along with a glass or two of local wines…
