Fleurs en France Workshop
The Languedoc Region June 2019
We stayed in a village in the countryside south of Toulouse, in the beautiful Chateau du Mauvaisin…
built in the 17th century it is still owned by the Mauvaisin family now- and how lucky were we to be able to run our floral workshops in the ballroom- surrounded by 400 year old portraits of the ancestors of our host Renaud de Mauvaisin.
Before we arrived at the chateau, Mark and I stayed on a houseboat on the Canal du Midi- and we foraged for wildflowers and grasses for the workshop and found antiques jugs and vessels at local brocantes. After we all arrived at the chateau we picked peonies and roses from the grounds - and buckets of blooms from the little flower and vege farm at the bottom of the garden. We created bouquets, inspired by the incredible perfumes introduced to us by perfume writer Danu Seith-Fyr- and modelled by Zoe. We painted watercolours of arrangements in antique French vessels; went on a road trip to the nearby village of Camon famous for its rose covered stone houses; and ended the 5 blissful days by decorating the ball room for our final feast…
